Game 4 VICTORY!!!

Our team won by a lot of points. The score was 33 to 17. I really enjoyed playing against Jacob. Jacob is in our Boy Scout troop. There is one picture where I am shooting the ball and my head is getting ripped off by Jacob. It looks like he was doing it on purpose. I made the shot and they didn’t call a foul on the shot.

Looking at the pictures I can see where our team was really “Boxing people out.” This means that they were using their bottom power to get the other teams player out of the spot they wanted to get too. There is a great picture of Brandon boxing out #15. Jake did a great job, but the pictures show why he got so many open layups, because players like Austin boxed out the person who was going to block Jake. Because they boxed the players out Jake had a free layup. Jake is good, but with our team’s help he is great!!!

Scott did a great job taking on the big guys. He isn’t intimidated by anyone.

Tanner was tough when he got squished like an Oreo cookie between two white players. He got really hurt, but he came back to play.

Elijah is a really great team player because he helps us make great plays and he always passes to the open man. He is a good rebounder too.

Brandon was a great “Garbage man.” A garbage man is a player who picks up the garbage from his teammate’s bad shots and then puts them in the trash can for 2 points. Brandon is always getting the rebounds and he has a good shot from the low box.

Even though I didn’t get to play with Andrew, I got to watch him do a really good job driving in and shooting.

Owen is really good at boxing out players and there is a really good picture of him doing this.

It was really fun when Jake and I were on the court at the same time. When there was a white team shot I would break down the court and Jake would get the rebound. Then he would throw a long pass down the court to me as I ran to the basket for a layup and two points. We did that several times and it was fun being the first one down the court. They would try and catch me from behind but the passes from Jake were perfect.

BYU GAME: After our game our team got to go to the BYU game against Wyoming. It was fun watching the teams be open for just a second and then be covered. It was fun watching the dunks and watching how they covered Wyoming. BYU won by about 30 points. We rode to the game with Brandon and Tanner’s Dad in their mini-van and watched “Open Season” on the DVD. My Dad and 6 of us players got to go to the game. Missing were Jake, Andrew, Scott, and Coach Lambson.

BASKETBALL - Jan. 17, 2009 - Victory!!!

Hooray!! Our Orem City “Puma” basketball team won our second game today. www.aaronleavitt.com/SBBall11709.html

It was fun to play against Cherry hill. They were a good match. Their big guy helped them a lot. He was tough to defend because somehow he always got to his destination by the rim. When they shot it he would get the ball. We had to box him out and use our patushkas to make sure he did not get to the rim.

Our team played good. I remember when Owen fell to the ground and brought someone else with him while we were running down the court.

I also remember stuffing their players shots. I jumped high and blocked their shots. It felt really good when I blocked their shots and they didn’t get as many points.

I also remember shooting free throws and I missed the first one and made the second one.

I got to know Scott better. He is really nice and very quiet. He is a really good player and he can dribble really good passed people.

Owen did really good at boxing out Goliath. So did Andrew. Goliath was very tall and very heavy... wide! He pushed us around because he was so much bigger than us. When he was directly under the rim he would shoot like twenty times and miss.

Jake did a great job breaking away from the pack and scoring layups.

Brandon did good but I never got to play with him.

Tanner made a great pass to me and I scored a layup.

It was funny when Austin ripped my head off trying to block a shot.

Everybody really did a great job.
